Our E-bay adventure..... so far.

On March 26, 2006 my sister and I has a little meeting together. We wanted to start our own home business. Since we had previously decided to sell items on e-bay, that is what our meeting was about. Our dad said that we could use some old records from in the garage that the previous house owners had left......so we took all the albums out of the garage and set up an area for us to start. We started by writing down the dates that the records were copyrighted, the name of the record, the number of records in the case, and the condition of the jackets plus any extra information that we had about them. We had lots of fun and we are now choosing which records we are going to put up to auction off.

I've done this before, so I'm teaching my sister how to set up an account and pick what to sell first. Plus, I've been evaluating the records to tell what condition their jackets are in. We're having lots of quality time together and I can't wait until we start selling some of our items!!!!

The Room was Bursting with Excitement!

Today was sooo cool!

We had almost 60 people show up at our Cashflow for Kids event at our new site. (Too many people for our house!)

The room was bursting with excitement! The snack table was overflowing and multiple prizes were given away. The most exciting sound heard was enthusiastic celebrations when people got out of the Rat Race … we asked them to shout, “Woo hoo, I am out of the Rat Race!” Everyone in the room applauded and cheered for the winner. The entire room was genuinely excited for each and every winner. We gave out 200 Grand as prizes to the first kids to make it out of the Rat Race at each table (you know, 2 of the 100 Grand candy bars J). Also, the first four kids to get out received Rich Dad books: Why We Want You to Be Rich and Escape from the Rat Race. Each winner had an opportunity to explain to everyone how they “got out”. They told about the deals they purchased and how they increased their passive income. Check out the picture of the winners.

Our goals for today’s game were, (1) learn something from new from the game, (2) meet someone new, and (3) have fun! We think the goals were achieved and beyond. Here are some comments/feedback that people gave us:

“This is so inspiring that kids are hosting this game!”

“A great time for kids to play a game that will help them.”

“We really enjoyed playing Cashflow for Kids! Thanks for letting us play with you!”

“This is great!”

“I had a fun time today, hope you have more events.”

As you can tell we had a great time hosting this game and hope that you will come to one of our future games.

Our next game is April 13th from 6:30-9:30. If you are interested and want directions, please e-mail us at ampm@cox.net.

The Interview!

Today was really exciting! Karly and I were interviewed this morning by a reproter from the New York Times! We were on the phone for a really long time, and I enjoyed talking to her. She asked a lot of questions, and then she sceduled a photographer to come and take pictures of us after school. When the photographer came, Karly and I were energized! We sat and took pictures for a really long time......we changed where we were sitting multiple times, and our cheeks were really sore from smiling so much! As she was taking pictures of us we were also telling her about the game and how we got to be involved with the Rich Dad Company. But, I had a fun time, and so did Karly. Do you recieve the New York Times? Try to read Thursday's paper! We might be in there!

My Essay continued...

So far, my essay is going really well, I started out with 861 words in it, but after further editing with my teachers and parents, I have wheedled it down to 282 words! It is short, but it has all the information that I need in it. I even have room to add a little extra detail, which I will be doing very soon. I cannot wait to see if I win a place in the contest!

My Essay

Today I was assigned an essay to write for the Grand Canyon State Games festival. There were multiple different prompts, but the one that I chose said that I was to tell about when I used perserverence and hard work to accomplish my personal best. I chose to write about my journey to becoming a Rich Family Ambassador. So far, I have a good idea of what it is going to be about. The only catch is that it has to be from 200-300 words to get a chance to win.

This is a contest against everyone in the state of Arizona, and there are different awards for the best writers! Some of the awards are medals, for example: the Gold, the Silver, and the Bronze.

Catching Up

It's 2007! We welcomed the New Year with friends and family and stayed up until midnight. We had a great time! In the past few months we have been busy with school and sports activities. One of our New Year resolutions is to update our blog and keep you more informed about what we are doing. Kelsey and I are looking forward to a very fun year.

As I mentioned above, school has been busy but I am learning a lot. In my class we were studying Native Americans and the class decided that we wanted to make drums. In order to make the drums we needed to buy tools and materials. We did not have the money and we already asked parents for donations for other projects. My amazing teacher had an excel-a-brilliant (excellent and brilliant) idea to host an eBay auction. For this auction all the kids in my class would bring items from home or buy items and bring them into the classroom so we could sell them.

One of the things my teacher shared with us was a contest that his family used to have every week to see who could find the best garage sale item for $10 or less and sell it on eBay for the most profit. He shared this story with us to motivate us in our effort to find a good item to sell for the class auction.

A couple days later, on the weekend, my family went to some garage sales to purchase an item. What we found was a St. Louis Cardinals baseball dish/ash tray and a metal, old-time, miniature automobile. I brought my items into class like everyone else and then we started on a series of steps for our auction:

1. We selected our items to sell
2. Researched the item
3. Created an advertisements based upon our research
4. Took pictures of the items
5. Weighed our objects

After most of the class completed these steps, we input our information into TurboLister, which is a program, offered by eBay that helps you easily list your items. After all this was complete, we uploaded our advertisement onto eBay. Now all we had to do was watch our ads on eBay, respond to customer questions truthfully and at the end of the auction, send an invoice to the winning bidder.

Once the auction was over, we waited for the payment from the winning bidders and after the payment was received, we boxed and shipped the items. After the transaction, we left feedback for the customer and the customer in turn left feedback for us regarding how well the transaction was completed.

Our goal for the eBay auction was to net $200 in profit. We blew that goal away and made over $400 in net profit!

Happy New Year!
